Can You Really Shock A Computer?

The headline of this report on Fox Weather says it all: ".... Hurricane Oscar rapidly develops, shocking computers and forecasters".

I can believe that weather forecasters were shocked, but how can the computers be shocked. It's not as if we are talking about AI computers; only old fashioned weather modelling software.

Can we please have some common sense from our journalists?
