Denyse O'Leary, the author of this report on MindMatters, really shows her ignorance of basic science. The headline, and the content of the article both state that the "Human Brain [is] More Complex Than the Models Show". Well duh! That is the nature of models; they are abstractions (simplifications). Since all science is about models (there are no such things as laws of science, only models), a basic understanding of models, their nature and their inherent limitations is a necessary qualification for any science journalist; Ms. O'Leary clearly lacks that understanding, and therefore that qualification. Perhaps it is time for her to seek a new career. | |
